Flight Sim World?

Post by maelstrom » Tue May 23, 2017 2:40 am

I'm deciding whether or not to try FSW but I've already been told that the FF is just default FSX at the moment. Are you considering a version for FSW?

I'm thinking about it. I'll be doing some work on FS Force in a week or two to support the new P3D v4, so I may do them both at the same time. That's assuming of course that DG hasn't made some major technical changes. The only thing I know now is that it is based on the ESP platform, so hopefully SimConnect is supported, but will have to take a look at it first.

Did you make any progress with FS Force and FSW? There seems to be an increasing number of people on both Avsim and DTG's own forums asking for full MS FF2 joystick functionality. Apparently the default forces worked in the initial release but were subsequently disabled for some reason that wasn't really made clear. I get basic functions (all of the axes and buttons work and there is a centring force) but no feedback forces.

There is a folder (x86) in the FSW installation which contains SimConnect.dll which is described as "Flight Sim World SimConnect client", if this helps.

Well, I downloaded FSW yesterday and tried to get FS Force working with it, but had no luck. It doesn't seem to be reading the DLL.XML files, so my DLL is not getting loaded.

I hadn't looked at FSW since May, and I'm pretty impressed at the number of updates since then. It seems DTG is pretty serious about developing this. I'm sure they'll release an SDK in due time.

The FSW SDK has been released today. Looking forward to the possibility of some decent force feedback at last - please!!!

Just bought it and now have good forces in FSW. However, when I change the elevator trim I get a lot of stuttering of the scenery which seems to be caused by the FS Force trim indication at the top of the screen. Turning off the trim indicator in the profile manager stops this so not a big problem.

Thanks for the report. I noticed the same thing regarding the trim display. Hopefully DTG will address that issue in one of their future releases.
