Joystick's center point

Post by pylon101 » Mon Jul 05, 2004 12:14 pm

I am sorry if this wish sounds a little bit foggy.

When approaching a runway with AP engaged, the joystick remains in the position it was left before engaging AP.

If I fly at night I used to dim all lights in the room. As a result I can't check center point of joystick visually before AP disengage and landing.

I may be reasonable if joystick returns into center point position after AP engaged. Some kind of default position.

Sometimes I have hard landings when switching back to hand flying.

I might be in the initial release. Sorry if I missed something.

When you engage the AP, FS Force slowly (over about a minute) moves the joystick back to center. You probably won't notice it. You will still feel control forces though, which you can use to determine where the center point is. Just before disengaging the AP, gently move the stick forward and back to determine where the center point is, by "feel", and then disengage the AP. You shouldn't experience any lurching. Another thing : you might want to disengage the AP a little sooner, so you have time to adjust to hand flying before landing.
